3 UDFA that can make the difference on the roster
The Cincinnati Bengals are hoping to see some magic come out of their undrafted free agents (or UDFAs, as they’re often called). It’s rare for a UDFA to go into roster and have a huge impact, but sometimes they end up being good players and add something to the roster. It might be the depth or the actual playing time, but the Bengals have a few UDFAs that could add something to this squad.
Let’s take a look at the three UDFAs that the Bengals believe can make a difference.
Cincinnati Bengals UDFAs to watch – # 3: Darius Hodge
It’s no secret that the Bengals had the worst pass rush in the league last year and they certainly made a point of improving this department during the offseason. They signed Trey Hendrickson while also drafting four defensive linemen in hopes their passing rush would be more effective in 2021.
Darius hodge has a chance to sneak down the list and punch and Benedetto Vitale of Clutch Points has said he will be the an AUDU he would bet on Cincy’s roster. Hodge played Marshall for three seasons and totaled 117 tackles (20.5 loss) and 15.5 sacks during that time. He probably wasn’t drafted due to a non-Power-5 schedule, but the Bengals could have found a diamond in the rough with Hodge.
Now, is Hodge going to come in and be a wrecking ball right away? Probably not, although anything is possible. The most likely expectation here is for Hodge to be used as a depth coin and come as a rotating player. If he can make the most of his shots, there is real potential for Hodge to become a special player for the Bengals.
