With India seeing a steady decline in its daily Covid tally, some states across the country have started the ‘unlock’ process by gradually easing restrictions and coronavirus-induced curfews. From Delhi to Tamil Nadu – several states have announced plans to ease blockages, based on their weekly positive rates and occupancy of oxygen beds in hospitals.
However, some states, such as Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh and Goa, have decided to continue with the lockdown due to the Covid-19 situation in the respective states.
Here’s a look at which states are easing Covid restrictions
Following a significant drop in Covid-19 cases and deaths in the national capital, the Delhi government has announced that it will start the “unlock” process from Monday, easing restrictions in all areas, including markets and metro services.
According to the latest order from the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), stores inside malls, markets and market complexes (except weekly markets) are to remain open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. odd-even basis. This means that stores would open every other day depending on the number assigned to them by the relevant market association.
The Delhi Metro will be allowed to operate at 50% of the seating capacity and buses will also continue to operate at 50% of their capacity. People will be allowed to venture out for all permitted activities, although a curfew will remain in place.
With regard to restaurants, take-out and delivery services will continue.
All private offices in Delhi will be allowed to operate at 50 percent of their staff between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., upon presentation of a valid letter of authorization and a valid I card issued to employees by employers, the report said. DDMA prescription.
The government of Maharashtra has announced a five level unlock plan according to the positivity rate and the occupancy of oxygenated beds in each district. The strategy will be implemented as soon as district and municipal authorities issue ordinances in their respective areas.
Under this plan, districts falling under “level 1” will have the least restrictions, while those in “level 5” will have interlocking-type borders.
Shopping malls, theaters, stores, gymnasiums and restaurants can resume normal operations in level 1 districts. In level 2 districts, malls and theaters can operate at 50% capacity, while that in districts falling under levels 3, 4 and 5, they can operate with certain restrictions. Mumbai falls under level 2.
Weddings, funerals, and other social gatherings can be held without restrictions in Level 1 areas. In other areas, these activities may take place, but with restrictions.
According to the notification, the situation will be assessed every Thursday by the state public health service, which will report the occupancy of oxygen beds and the positivity rate for the state and each district.
The government of Gujarat also revised its lockdown restriction strategy to allow stores to reopen from June 4. Stores will remain open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. statewide. It also allowed home delivery of food until 10 p.m.
Gujarat offices were allowed to operate without any restrictions from June 7.
With coronavirus cases slowly declining, the government of Uttar Pradesh has eased restrictions in districts with fewer than 600 active cases. The nighttime curfew and weekend lockdown will also remain in effect.
In Noida, curfew rules are expected to be relaxed from Monday with fewer cases. For social gatherings of most types, no more than 25 guests are allowed to attend. During this time, the ceremonies of the last rite can only be attended by 20 participants. According to the administration, businesses outside the containment zones will be allowed to open between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Vegetable markets located in populated areas will only operate in open spaces.
The administration authorized a gathering of 25 people for a wedding and 20 people for a funeral subject to social distancing. As the Tamil Nadu government extended the lockdown until June 14, restrictions were lifted in 27 districts, including Chennai.
