Nytil explains face masks – Daily Monitor
Vice President Jessica Alupo alongside Minister of State in the Vice President’s Office Ms Lydia Mutasingwa received a donation of a truckload of three-layer surgical masks from Southern Range Nyanza Limited in the middle of this week ( Nytil) with the aim of fighting Covid-19 in the country.
Mr. Richard Mubiru and Mr. Jimmy Muteesaasira, Group Marketing Director, represented Nytil at the function held at the Vice President’s office in Kampala.
Upon handing over the donation, Mr. Mubiru said that Nytil was delighted to be one of the lifesaving personal protective equipment (PPE) solution providers following the commissioning of a commissioned PPE manufacturing plant. by President Museveni in August of last year.
Mr Mubiru also said that the investment in the installation of PPE cost $ 6.5 million (about Shs 23 billion) and endowed Nytil with the capacity to produce three-layer surgical masks, masks KN 95 and Hazmat coveralls for medical personnel.
He congratulated the government for the implementation of the Buy Uganda Build Uganda (BUBU) policy which enabled such investments.
Mr. Mubiru urged the government to support BUBU to strengthen local self-reliance capacities.
“Nytil now has sufficient capacity to export PPE across Africa and looks forward to the opportunity to do so,” Mubiru added. Ms Alupo applauded Nytil for the donation, adding that her office will address issues raised on market access to support continued production of PPE for local and export markets.
During her visit to the company earlier, the Vice President praised the company for improving the quality of the uniforms it manufactures for the Ugandan People’s Defense Force and the police.
She asked Nytil to empower tailors and improve the quality of the clothes they produce so that they can promote local production and consumption.
