Project Love Campaign Provides Holiday Meals to Homebound Seniors
Fayette Senior Services (FSS) Announces Start of Annual Meals On Wheels (MOW) Campaign Project Love and FSS challenges citizens and businesses in our community to make a difference this holiday season by donating to this great cause . Each year, FSS, a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit, takes the lead in raising awareness and raising funds to help fight hunger and isolation of older people in need. In a year that has brought so many changes, we could all use a little more connection and a lot more love! Project Love seeks to improve and expand seniors’ bonds with our community by offering daily meal delivery and a check-in visit while enhancing these bonds through holiday and weekend meals. This fundraiser is essential to providing holiday and weekend meals throughout the year for homebound seniors in our community who are not covered by the general funding that FSS receives each year for the. MOW program. For as little as $ 5, a meal can be provided to feed a senior. There is no limit to the number of meals that can be purchased and general donations are welcome. For every five dollars, not all of us reach our goal of $ 40,000 (8,000 meals), one less holiday meal will be delivered to a senior in need. Donation forms and additional information are available at www.fayss.org and at any Fayette Senior Services store, 4 Center Drive-in Fayetteville, or 203 McIntosh Trail in Peachtree City. All donations are tax deductible. With the support of residents and the business community, hundreds of seniors will discover the love our community offers and the comfort and joy of having a nutritious meal this holiday season.
It’s hard to imagine that so many seniors in Fayette County are not only hungry just because they have a hard time preparing a meal, but they also don’t have any type of holiday meal. that many of us take for granted. Meals are delivered by a group of dedicated volunteers who provide not only a meal but also a check-up. These visits allow homebound seniors to continue to live independently in the comfort of their homes. Many of our clients often share the impact this has on their lives and their gratitude for the service! “I can’t wait to receive Meals on Wheels every day, not only for meals but also for the company it gives me! It’s more than just a meal, it allows those who receive them to feel loved and as if they mean something to the community. I had the opportunity to have a tasty and healthy meal and the drivers who deliver the meals have become some of my closest friends. Without MOW, I would have little contact with others. Meals on Wheels is my whole day! Said one of the FSS MOW recipients. Help make a difference in the lives of seniors by providing meals and connections this holiday season.
