Western Card Office Moves To Old Main To Offer New Mobile Credentials

The Western Card Office has moved operations from the dorms from Eden’s Hall to the Student Business Office in Old Main 110.
The office will expand its reach in the coming months by implementing a new card production program that will give the office the ability to use a mobile ID. The services provided will remain similar in the short term; produce western cards, badges and badges for students, faculty, staff and alumni.
This transition of location and oversight has taken years and the Western Card Office is delighted to share this news with the campus community.
Imagine your Western Card, in all its forms, as an app on your mobile device. Tap your device when you enter the dining room or purchase a meal from any food service location; enter the recreation center and use your phone to access it; checking books in western libraries; Hop on a WTA bus and take a ride downtown by touching your phone instead of swiping your card. Don’t want to get rid of your plastic card? That’s okay, it will still work the same way it currently does.
Implementing phase one with mobile credentials will mimic all current Western Card functions. We look forward to Phases Two and beyond which will expand credentialing capabilities to declining balance accounts, building access, attendance counting and more.
The Western Card team has met many campus members and stakeholders during our transition and we look forward to meeting more of you in the future. We will be holding meetings with suppliers soon to receive demonstrations of their products and encourage everyone to attend these sessions. Details of supplier information, FAQs and more will be posted on the Western Card Office website.
